Turn a Windows Mobile 6 Smart Phone into a Wireless Router using WMWifiRouter!

WMWifiRouter is a very cool utility that you can run on your WiFi-capable WM6 device to turn into a WiFi router. Using this method, you could conceivably have many people be able to access the internet from their laptops (or other wifi-enable devices) through your phone wirelessly under very special conditions (in a car, bus, airport, etc.)

When activated, it will set up your WiFi link in ad-hoc mode and start a DHCP server. Your laptop will see a new network called WMWifiRouter, and connecting to it will funnel all of your network traffic through your phone and it’s cellular connection. I tried it with my Sprint Mogul, and it worked like a charm. The speed was really good too - almost rivaling that of my normal Wi-fi connection at home.

You can download the software from http://www.wmwifirouter.com/ which just became live again after an absence.

Does it require a special plan from your carrier? Not sure, but I am currently using the “Sprint PCS” network, not “Phone as Modem” (which I know you have to pay extra for), and have not experienced any extra charges so far. :D

I am sure there is a way for making my single laptop use the internet through my pocket pc HSDPA enabled through the usb cable. Some say there is another program, which already comes in the latest pocket pc phones.

This way, no need for wifi which drains the battery faster and can get the pocket pc smartphone charged at the same time.
